ME: Sorry, what do you log in as?

HIM: (tone of voice clearly indicating his perceived mental superiority to me) Do you mean my user ID?

ME: Sure.

(I look up his account.)

ME: OK, it looks like the password has expired. It has to be at least eight characters. Do you have a preference?

HIM: No. But what do you mean by preference?
