2003-11-19 - 4:51 p.m. Okeydokey. This is fucking stupid. This dude, Mr. I Am Terribly Terribly Important, is getting winword.exe errors every time he opens any Word file. He insists he has tried rebooting, etc., and insists he has not changed anything on his computer. Fine, great, fabulous. So the analyst he was speaking to creates him a ticket to his local support. Not to us. To local support. It is now their issue because they can go out there and see what is going on with this computer. But, as you might expect, Mr. I Am Terribly Terribly Important calls back five minutes later and leaves us a voicemail announcing imperiously that he is leaving at five and that whomever picks up the voicemail is going to be held personally responsible for fixing this issue by five (which was in twenty minutes, mind you). So I call the head of the local group, who is very nice, and says he will try to get to it by five if he can at all. Thinking this is good news for Mr. I Am Terribly Terribly Important, I call him back. Well, Mr. I Am Terribly Terribly Important does not think this is great news, because he would rather I fix his problem. Bear in mind he has already been through all the troubleshooting steps that the helpdesk can do. He is not satisfied. He thinks I am holding out on him and that I am in fact just one office away instead of 1500 miles away, and that I should run my butt up to his office and fix his computer right now. When I finally explain to him that I can't do that, that the local support is making every effort, etc., he has just one more demand to make of me. Mr. I Am Terribly Terribly Important demands that I call his manager to explain the situation to her and to personally take responsibility for the fact that he will not have his work done by five. MY SWEET ASS I WILL!
