It's very liberating when you realize that you don't have to be responsible for other people, that you don't have to act like their mother substitute or their private confessor or whatever.

It's nice to remember that you and you alone are responsible for your own happiness. I felt good yesterday when I remembered that.

The fact my apartment is surrounded by tall trees which filter the light into amazing, shifting dapples of green is a very cheering thing, I also realized.

I'm very relieved that I do not have a boyfriend who is both dependent on me for his social life and resentful of me for that fact. There have been several of those and it is just plain tiring. I have way too much to concentrate on to mother anybody. Feh.
